What is a DocCare workspace?

DocCare workspace is a collection of virtual documents and folders. For example, a DocCare workspace can be a project, a activity, a meeting or an event.
By default, DocCare categorize folders and documents by departments. For a cross-department situation, for example, a project, you can create a workspace to collect documents owned by different departments. Using workspace, project members from different department can share a set of documents.

Two differences between department document and workspace document

  1. A workspace document is a virtual document. He is a link or a short cut of a department document. You won't delete the physical document if you deleted a workspace document.
  2. Workspace provides a business related classification of documents. Normally, documents are classified by folders and departments. However, you can use workspace to classify documents by business entities, such as projects, activities, etc.

The figure below is an example of a DocCare workspace.
DocCare workspace example
In the figure above, Jeoy, Chandler, Ross and Tom a members of different departments. Under GES model, they can only access documents owned by his department and child departments.
However, they both take part in ABC project, so they have to share these project related documents. DocCare workspace can meet their requirements. The privileges to operate the workspace documents is controlled by workspace settings.
