Download PDF Version of a Document

 

[Download PDF] is a new privilege added to DocCare since 2.8. Users who has this privilege can download the PDF version of the document.
You can use this feature to prevent a user from getting the original document. For example, you can grant a customer the privilege to download PDF version of the user manual instead of letting him download the original document.

The DocCare PDF converter currently supports to convert MS Word to PDF, Excel to PDF, PowerPoint to PDF. Other supported formats include:

• MS Office documents, including .doc, .xls, .ppt
• Web page, including .htm/.html
• Text files, including .txt, .csv, .tsv
• Others, including .rtf, .wpd, odt, etc

You can setup the security level of the generated PDF file in DocCare. The parameters to configure the generated PDF security level are:

• If password required to open the PDF file.
• The password to open the PDF file.
• If user can copy PDF file content.
• If user can export PDF file to other formats.
• If user can edit and save the PDF file.
• If user can print the PDF file.

You should install DocCare PDF converter plug-in before you can download PDF version of document. Otherwise, you will see the following error message when you click on button [Download PDF]:
The PDF of this document is not available. Please check if PDF Converter plug-in is correctly installed. If PDF Converter is installed correctly, please try to download pdf again.

Note: If the document had already been imported in DocCare before you installed PDF converter plug-in. When you click button [Download PDF] the first time, DocCare will check if the PDF file exists. If not, DocCare will try to generate it. So you can click on this button again to download the PDF.
