1. What is Burgeonsoft DocCare2?

Burgeonsoft DocCare is a web-based DMS (Document Management System) software.

DocCare2 is the second generation of DocCare software. It provides support to document creation, version control & archiving, documents categorization and presentation and central storage for various kinds of documents. Compared to the previous version, DocCare2 has enhanced a lot on security, document categorization, business logic and document protection. Furthermore, DocCare2 is based on AJAX technology, which improves a lot on usability. Full-text search is also brought into DocCare2, which allows user to locate the target document in milliseconds by keywords.

Because it is so easy to use and almost free from maintenance, DocCare2 is suitable for any group which handles a large amount of business documents.

2. Why we design and develope DocCare software?

People's complaints
For a long time, employees have complained that it is quite inconvenient to manage their documents.

It is even worse in some small groups/companies with about 50 or fewer members. Usually those groups or companies build a single file server to store all their documents. They probably also create different folders to classify the documents.

However, with the growth of documents, people feel it is harder and harder to find the document they want and even they get the document, they are frustrated to find that it is not the right edition.

Other problems which might frequently bother them are:

  • No clear definitions of document entitlements(List, read, update, delete) for a certain user.
  • Every user might has a different edition of the same document in his computer.
  • People send document to each other by email, and have to wait for each new edition to be sent back. This leads to low efficiency.
  • How can an editor know his document is modified by somebody else?

A lot of developers use version control system such as CVS and MS Source Safe to manage their documents. However the setting-ups of the software are tricky, Non-technical people probably have no interests to use them. And they also have to download and install the client software before they start to use them. What a trouble!

Windows user please provide Remote Desktop/PCanywhere or other remote control application account; Unix user provide telnet or ssh account instead.

Answers on Business Document Management

1. How does DocCare2 protect your documents?

Summarily, DocCare uses the following mechanism to protect users' documents.
  • Role based User group privileges.
  • Business based document accessibility control. (GES(General Enterprise Structure) module)
  • Document entitlement on each user.
  • Tracing of document change.

2. What is GES (General Enterprise Structure) model?

3. Why DocCare rename the document?

Because DocCare has a ‘clean' web client, without any installation of software or plug-ins, it provides a naming mechanism which allows users to identify the document by the file name.
The name of a DocCare file is made up of three parts: ID, File Name and Version. The three parts are divided by character ‘_'. For example, a typical DocCare file name may be: ABC000012_user_manual_v1_2.doc, in which ABC000012 is the document id, user_manual is the file name and v1_2 is the version of the document. The file name will be automatically generated by DocCare when you import or commit a document.

4. How DocCare controls the document versions?

If the first time a user imports user_manual.doc into DocCare, the version will be set to 1.1 and the file name may be ABC000012_user_manual_v1_1.doc. If another user downloads, edits and then commits ABC000012_user_manual_v1_1.doc, DocCare will rename it to ABC000012_user_manual_v1_2.doc. More illustrations on version control.

5. What is DocCare2 Workspace?

Summarily, DocCare2 Workspace is a mechanism to share document based on business structure, objects and processes. For example: a workspace can be a business project, a virtual team, one of the customers, etc.

6. How to share a document for everyone to download?

You can create a public workspace and add document in it. Through Public View of this workspace, you can get an encoded URL to this document.

7. Do I need to manually update the workspace document after it is changed?

No. Workspace document is only a link to department document. It always links to the latest version of a department document. DocCare2 allows multi workspace documents link to one department document. If the document is changed, people can automatically access the latest document when open the workspace documents.

2. What databases are supported by DocCare2?

DocCare2 is designed to support most kinds of relational databases. DocCare 2.0 release is bundled with HSQL database 1.8.9. For the support of other databases, please contact Burgeonsoft support.

3. I have already installed Tomcat, can DocCare2 run in my Tomcat?

Sure you can! But if you have web application that uses Apache Lib, please notice the version of the lib files. If they bring incompatible problems, you'd better check and use only one version of the lib files.

Answers to Purchase Questions:

1. If I buy Burgeonsoft DocCare Software, can I get upgrade freely?

You can get a lifetime upgradability freely only if you buy an unlimited user version.

2. If I buy a 50 user license initially, how much should I pay when I update to an 100 user license ?

To update the user license to higher level, all you have to pay is just the price difference.

3. What does User License mean?

A 20 user license means there can be registered maximum 20 users in DocCare(include admin account). If you are registering 21st account, you will be notified: "Registered user accounts have reached 20, please contact Burgeonsoft to upgrade your user license."

As your business grows, this kind of situation may happen. It maybe the right time for you to update your license number.

4. I'll purchase 10 user license, but 6 months later, how much will I be charged for upgrade?

When the certain free upgrade& support period exceeds, you'll be charged for updates and supports and that will be 20% of the license fee for one year. But free of charge for unlimited license for a life time.

Of course, you don't have to pay if you are satisfied with current version and don't need upgrade at all! Because license fee is one-time fee, no further yearly fee attached to the original license.

5. How could I pay you?

6. How could I install the license key?

You can follow the steps below??
1. Download free version of DocCare >>Download
2. Install and initialize DocCare >>Installation Guide
3. Login DocCare with the account which has the right to modify parameters.
4. Enter page to update license from Option >> Configure Parameters>>Update License.
5. Copy and paste the license key in the text area and submit.

If the license key is valid, you will see the updated license info.
